About the Programme
The Research Networking Day (RND) is an international exchange platform specifically designed for graduate and postgraduate students, as well as independent artists conducting self-guided research. The organizers are seeking innovative and critical presentations responding to the CTM 2027 festival theme – "Process…ing". Nine candidates will be selected from the submitted applications to give short, 10-minute presentations (grouped into modules and followed by panel discussions).
The event offers researchers a fantastic opportunity to connect with an international community. The presentations also have the potential to be published later on CTM Festival's official YouTube and Soundcloud channels.
Who is CTM looking for? The Open Call is aimed at individuals creating and analyzing phenomena traversing the fields of audio, visual arts, design, media, and related theoretical disciplines. Applications must be for individual (solo) presentations (duos or group presentations will not be accommodated).
Key Conditions and Support:
- Presentations will take place on-site and in English during the festival in Berlin, as part of the Discourse programme.
- Organizers will provide participants with a full CTM 2027 festival pass, a catered lunch on the day of the presentations, and a group dinner.
- Note: The festival unfortunately cannot grant any funding to cover travel and accommodation costs in Berlin.
How to Apply? Via the online application form, where you must provide two main elements:
A short biography (maximum 500 characters with spaces).
An abstract of the proposed presentation (maximum 1500 characters with spaces).
Curatorial Note from CTM regarding AI: The festival jury places a very strong emphasis on the applicant's own voice and critical thinking—not on elaborate application writing. The organizers recognize that AI tools can be helpful for brainstorming, structuring, or translating ideas (especially for those whose first language is not English). However, they note that applications where artificial intelligence has entirely replaced the candidate's authentic voice, perspective, and artistic reasoning will be much harder to evaluate meaningfully and may not stand out, potentially leading to rejection.
